The Fox is an iconic building for Atlanta a monument that for yearshas been a directional tool tourist attraction and a place forAtlantans to flock for off-Broadway productions Many of the FoxTheatres attributes can attest to this long-established relationshipwith the city starting with layout and facades flanking each side ofthe structure The architect of the Fox Theatre uses its unique nude-and cream-striped brickwork and Islamic mosque style minarets anddomes to create a consistent motif in a building that otherwise givesthe illusion of being divided into a cluster of smaller more intimatespaces The facade that faces Peachtree Street and sustains the iconicFox marquee exemplifies this more intimate division of thearchitectural design through the used of strong vertical and horizontalelements On either end of the theaters extravagant entrance isolatedby the height of the minarets and stocky overhang are storefrontsconnected visually with the building though the repetition of the strongrectilinear elements of the entrance The storefront windows worktogether to divide the space for the viewers eye while also providingcontinuity within the structure Each mahogany-colored frame is flankedat the top by a pointed arch motif tying back to the buildings overallIslamic mosque theme The strong horizontals of the roof are only brokenbetween each storefront by singular crenulations mimicking the higherroof of the entryway The longstanding success of the Fox is apparent in the dazzling andopulent entrance arcade The inviting design employs gold-filigreeddetails on the box office and faux columns just under the marqueeoverhang and extends skyward into the towering minarets supporting thealluring red Fox Theatre sign The sign works to draw in the viewer froma street view jutting out as far as the marquee overhang and flauntinga collection of bright lights filling in each letter of the verticaldisplay The bright red also repeated in the frame of the marquee isthe only unnatural color on the face and it works in hand with thetheatres lighting to draw the eye to the buildings name and purposeThe high-reaching minarets and
