The Great Depression was a time period in American history when there was hard economic in United States and abroad The stock market crash in Wall Street was the catalyst event that like in a dominos game was spread around the world Most companys first response is to cut back worker and production when crisis hit the economy or a companyHebert Hoover was President when the Great Depression started His approach to the crisis was implementing few changes to current system but no radical changes He believed that the market would correct itself an idea also shared with Wall Street Unfortunately the economy just got worse Soon there would be home shelter called Hoover Ville and other similar termsDuring this period people went out in the street and protested There were conflict between rich and poor unionized and not unionized and black and white This was a time when people took action and didnt just stay at home Not relying business or the government people took action by protesting stealing material and food and exchanging or selling goods or services There would also be a bailout just like in 2008 called RFC This money saved the bank and investors from ruins but it didnt save the working class Unemployment continued there no accelerated growth There was no change in the economy classic economic had failed In response to this the American people voted for Franklin Delano Roosevelt to fix the mess that Wall Street had caused Franklin Roosevelt was elected President He passed legislation that would spur growth One of his big federal programs was called the New Deal which gave jobs to the unemployed and introduced social security He also introduced NRA National Recover Act which allowed for regulation of Big business and collective bargaining rights for workers Essentially He wanted to save capitalism from ruins He wanted to restart the economy and adopted what will be
