The life of an Asian American woman is no different than any other women living in the United States today but we need to be educated on the fact that this wasnt in fact reality merely a few decades ago The hardships Japanese and Chinese American women faced during the war or even as a citizen in this time period of 1930-1944 was beyond cruel and unusual Although faced with adversity as an alien coming into an unknown territory with pressure to fit in and integrate their willingness to overcome this obstacle was achieved by strong bonds between their close-knit families and friends Constantly looked down upon in public they have become the unfortunate group of people who have become constantly abused by the government through laws and legislation that would cause much humiliation and shame Though these Asian American women were not treated equally during this time they collectively looked upon the positive side daily to reach prosperity and success within themselves and their family Of the two ethnicities that have been tremendously affected by the American public and government were the Japanese people who have been residing in the US for most of their lives With a dream of trying to make a decent living by moving overseas to America they gambled on whether they will bring that dream into a reality It didnt They have become the center of hatred and discrimination not only because they were foreigners but oddly because of their dedication to hard-worked efforts to make something out of this trip to America Of these Japanese immigrants who bought a ticket in order to come 33000 were Japanese women Adapting to their new environment is tough for anyone to go through especially for the Japanese women As Professor at SFSU Valerie Matsumoto says Once settled these women confronted unfamiliar clothing food language and customs as well as life with husbands who were in many cases strangers and often
