What impact does The Jacksonian Era have on the United StatesThe individualistic president Andrew Jackson gave Americans hope to pursue themselves in a new and different society where the common people are more involved and a new democracy was developed In the Jacksonian era economic political and social changes occurred which impacted the united states greatly and generally prolonged democratic ideals it changed the way of government foreverEconomic changes such as the creating of the market economy and egalitarian ideas helped support the new democracy Transportation like steamboats and canals contributed to commerce The Erie canal and national road are prime examples of transportation The war of 1812 provoked a general increase in American factories a industrial revolution occurred as many inventions were invented such as cotton gin sewing machine and the steel plow The Missouri Compromise of 1820 and the Panic of 1819 helped it grow as well The Tariff of 1828 aka tariff of abominations or yankee tariff were not liked by the jacksonian democrats They felt the heavy tariff on raw materials was outstanding This resulted in the tariff of 1832 which lowered tariffs by thirty-five percent However the southerners still hated it this lead to Jackson issuing a proclamation against South Carolina and the Nullies who tried to void even the 1832 tariff Henry Clay proposed a compromise bill that would reduce tariff approximately ten percent over 8 years Force bill was passed which let president and army step in to collect tariff if necessaryPolitical changes included the forming of a new party- the Jacksonians They were a democratic peoples party who were all for the common man Universal White Manhood Suffrage proved the new democracy Land and religious qualifications to vote were dropped and all white men were eligible This was a change of direction in the voting area The voting range was opened to the common man Since the southerners believed the yankee tariff discriminated against them
