Communication in nursing provides the very basic and some of the most important parts of being a nurse It provides a basis for explanation to patients families and other medical personnel When nurses communicate they are offering an easier way for others to understand certain situations Whether it be written or oral communication is such a significant part of nursing During the nursing simulation I was able to experience a nurse-patient interaction I was not the actual patient but I was the wife My husband and I were asked questions by two different RNs They were mostly directed towards the patients medical history and desires but I was also included in the some of the questioning While most of the questions were of medical issues there were also some of family matters and spiritual beliefs Both of our nurses were kind in the way they talked to us and careful in making sure all the answered questions were documented correctly on paper Although it was very busy I could see that our nurses as well as the others were listening very well to what their patients had to say I have never had a big problem multitasking but I noticed that much of what nursing consists of also consists of doing so I learned that I cannot just focus on a one specific thing at a time I have to be able to do multiple at the same time As a freshman I realize I am just at the beginning and understand that it will come more easily once I become used to it However as of now I think I will be challenged by the fact that I have to be able to communicate many things at once and try to condense them into a small amount of time Knowing God is going to be with me from now on until the end of my nursing career comforts me though I trust He will
