In About that NJ Organ Scandal Sally Satel tells her readers that the problem regarding the amount of human organs being blacklisted is increasing She states this is because sick people are desperate to receive organs but the amount of organ donations is decreasing In order to decrease the amount of trafficked organs Satel makes the assessment that if people would be given incentives to donate they would be more inclined to give an organ Thus trafficked organs would not be needed Though Satel presents a very well written article she fails to recognize the negative effects of incentives and gives the assumption that there is no other solutionSatel begins by discussing an example of organ trafficking in New Jersey a man tried to sell a kidney for 160000 She then states that although it may seem shocking that such a thing could be done it is no revelation with the lack of donated organs and the desperate patients However trafficking human organs is illegal and those who are caught participating in an organ exchange will be punished Regardless of the efforts to increase free will organ donations a shortage of organs remains Satel continues with the suggestion that by giving incentives to donors more people will donate and the organ shortage will decrease Only through increased donation will the trafficking of human organs decline because they are no longer needed She states that the incentives should come from the government or from charities Satels audience can be determined by reading her article By reading we can see that the topic is too gruesome and confusing for children implying an older and more educated audience We can also come to the conclusion that if someone read the article and did not understand organ donation to begin with that they would not be able to understand what they are reading It can be assumed through these things that the article is targeted at a fairly
