Inequality has been present in society for hundreds of years This has been a major issue that has been debated and studied through out the course of history As I was introduced to this assignment I was given the opportunity to explore the inequalities in basketball of which I have been exposed to throughout my life As a kinesiology student you may be aware that I am mostly likely involved and interested in athletics in general As a child I have grown up in the environment of the basketball As I grew up the common ideologies of basketball began to become more visible as the years went on Society views basketball as a sport dominated by male individuals of black ethnicity Key points seen in the photo of inequality in basketball will be brought up and discussed In my opinion the media and the common ideologies of society is the major cause of this inequality This inequality must be stopped in order to witness a positive change in our societyAs depicted in the image it is obvious that basketball is greatly dominated by individuals of black ethnicity This image depicts inequality as it only shows black individuals playing basketball rather than individuals of other race Though Basketball was a sport invented by a white Canadian it now is prominently dominate by black individuals If your black you can shootyou can stealyou can run This is a saying I have heard over and over again as a child It ties in black individuals basketball skills on court to the aggressive behaviors society feels they commit on a daily bases This saying was most likely created by an individual that was not of black ethnicity of whom enjoys playing basketball but feels unequal due to the inequality inflicted upon them by the stereotypes created by society Though it may not directly be said in most cases it certainly is implied that black individuals are superior in
