11 Background Rural electrification has a holistic approach including the development of the local infrastructure like telecommunication hospital facilities and set up of educational institutions such as schools and training centers It also has environmental advantage in controlling deforestation The quality of education is one of the main factors for countries to grow economically this can be seen in different point of views One is education provides human capital which is innovative and skilled which increases productivity and minimizes cost on the other hand more schooling means higher lifetime income Literacy brings the best potential out of students this means increase in productivity because students will eventually become a significant part of labor force Increased productivity of labor means increase in economic growth And so providing conducive environment to achieve a better student performance must be given a priority by policy designers Rural electricity can be seen in different forms as to how it increases efficiency of students the first is at a household level As a result of electricity students get to have a better lighting system during the night time this will motivate and thus increases their school performance positively Eradicating illiteracy also has a significant advantage in enhancing adult education We can also see the benefit of electricity in increased participation of woman in the learning sector this can be due to the opening of wefcho in the local region which helps woman to save energy and time in the process of feeding their respective families and consequently inducing them to focus on their schoolwork Another manner of seeing electricity as driving force for the overall performance of students is at the school level Provisions of information technology better ways of conducting the laboratory establishment of night time schooling arrival of better instructors
