The Kids of the Future A Contemporary Issue on Secondary Curriculum TheoriesWhen given the chance to state ones opinion many jump on the opportunity as if it were the last train leaving for paradise Most people enjoy talking about their experiences in life and how high school was for them Whether good bad ugly amazing or horrible most people find that when they were in school they talked about their education and whether or not one should take the accelerated classes or the normal classes This conversation of accelerated versus non-accelerated has been around for years In todays American society one finds that education is not what it used to be especially in secondary classrooms In concern for secondary classrooms some believe new educational acts new intensive programs for teachers new after school programs a harder curriculum the attitude of the teacher simply an increase in funding making the basic courses more difficult to prepare students for college the environment of the classroom or the value of education around the US are answers to fixing Americas English education According to the American government new educational acts are the proper ways to change education itself In past years there has been one major act passed by the Bush Administration This act is known as the No Child Left Behind Act NCLB The NCLB according to the US Department of Education was formed to hopefully have every student in America achieve proficient on standardized test specifically in mathematics and reading This act was built in stages starting off slowly and then progressing from testing in two subjects into four Included in these laws were regulations that each state had to enforce in each individual school In an evaluation it was found that many states with districts that needed funding for the NCLB were not given the attention that was required in the school year of 2006-07 Evaluation 21 117 Current reports state that this act is ineffective
