In 1932 the Al-Saud tribe lead by Abdul Aziz officially established the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after successfully taking over the region From that point forward the monocratic rule exerted its dominance over the country while silencing all of its critics because of its power Saudi Arabia is home to the most sacred sites to the religion of Islam Millions of people come yearly to commemorate and pay homage to Allah and the sacrifices of their Prophets The most significant being the Hajj Pilgrimage as this pays respect to their Prophet Abraham PBUH and Prophet Muhammad PBUH The two most commonly visited places are the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina These cities hold a lot sentimental cultural and spiritual significance for the people of the religion However the people are stymied to raise their opinion when it comes to the progress of the city The paper will focus on the development of the Holy sites in the Islamic world It can be argued that the decision making powers within the autocratic regime of Saudi Arabia are heavily influenced by corporations and petrodollars This corporate and political influence has caused decision makers to modernize Islamic historical sites rather preserve them in respect of their forefathers The following section will examine the relations of the monarchy with the people what methods could be used for both parties to satisfied and lastly why such reforms are difficult to come by The historical sites of the Holy Cities hold significant value to the Muslim population as the birth of the religion took place almost 1450 years ago in Makkah Since then it has been the epicenter of the Islamic world and its history Muslims from all around the world pray 5 times a day towards the Kaaba the Black Cube According to their scriptures it was built by Prophet Abraham PBUH in prehistoric times The Holy Cities have been under immense threat of losing all of
