"You are off to a great start, and your higher-order concerns are in good shape: your narrative and discussion are clearly relevant to the thesis, which is consistently attended to throughout the essay. My main comment is to focus on the lower-order concerns so that your final draft is polished and clear. Watch out for minor errors that can impact both ethos and clarity, and review the diction to ensure appropriate tone (I spotted a "mom" that would be better as "mother) and language appropriate to the level of discussion and audience ("a big school", "so bad").

You will want to make sure the quotation about life in Malden is incorporated into the text. A quick edit might see you turning the period into a colon (Life was tough in Malden: "drinking, gambling..."; a semicolon would also work, depending on how you envision the flow and relationships of the two clauses); make sure to properly cite the source, too."
