George Washington 2013The Biography Channel website Oct 03 2013 0241httpwwwbiographycompeoplegeorge-washington-9524786 httpwwwbiographycompeoplegeorge-washington-9524786page1httpsuite101comafacts-george-washington-a33450George Washington was born on February 22 1731 in Virginia His father owned a plantation that distributed tobacco products There is not much that is known of his earlier years due to a lack of facts What is known however is that he was honest and hard-working constantly going above what was required of him As a child he understood what his place was and wanted to achieve the standards set before him There were trials evident in his life such as the passing of a parent but that did not keep him from losing his vision of where he wanted to be His half-brother Lawrence took responsibility for him and helped Washingtons schooling from his tutors George had more of a clear understanding of colonial values At the age of sixteen he went to help with establishing the Virginia territory more effectively Being in charge at that young of age helped instil the qualities of a good leader and soon was moved up to an official later on that year No matter what trials came into his life George took them head-on Several years after being involved with being an official the heir of the estate his half-brother Lawrence died Twenty years of life seems so short for that much tragedy to occur in his life Grief did not stop him from taking the responsibility that was required of him soon he became the head of the Mount Vernon estate Land seemed to flourish under his leadership as the land profited over 8000 acres God blessed the hands of this man in whatever he did Washington did not have to promote himself because eyes were watching his actions He was the one necessary person whose calm unswerving determined sense of patriotic duty to country and ability put real backbone into the Revolution and kept it from collapsing or merging into a civil conflict wwwushistoryorg
