Bridget's feedback:
"This is a well-organized essay with a purposeful structure, a clear and consistent position, and lucid writing with strong mechanics. Each paragraph is logically arranged and focused. The argumentation mostly relies on pathos and urgency, which limits your audience. Review your prompt and consider who you need to persuade. "The problem with..." at the beginning, for example, assumes there is a problem. Show there is using sources; by credibly establishing the situation, you can convince your readers to come with you into the body paragraphs with an open mind. I recommend reviewing your claims and taking all opportunities to introduce solid evidence. When did school attendance change? Who or what is a "problem student" and what is the link to violence? Where are you sourcing your claims about family structure, viewing habits, athletes? Without reference to studies and data, claims like "Rarely does a month go by..." shift into hysteria, which will only appeal to a narrow audience. Does this suit the rhetorical situation?"
