Bridget's feedback:
"I agree--poor Stella! It's easy for Stella to get lost in the noise, but consider using a third body paragraph to help the reader explore this aspect of the story, as well. Your approach is blunt and I think there is an opportunity here to really dig into that part of the story. However, I do advise against opening with reference to "a few personality disorders" (para. 1), as this suggests you will be analyzing the characters from a psychological point of view, and as you move forward, consider deepening your thesis by thinking about why Williams might have shaped his unlikeable characters--what purpose does it serve for the story, themes, messages?
As noted, I appreciate the personal touch. I do caution against letting a casual tone or voice becoming informality. Keep a close eye on grammar and other writing mechanics. Watch out for spelling mistakes (e.g., "Blanch") and I recommend against all-caps to make your point ("SO," para. 2; try out punctuation or revising so the emphasis falls where you want it to). Check your prompt and think about your instructor's expectations before using casual diction like "he sucks"--you will know best the parameters."
