Physician assisted suicide is when a physician provides a patient with the medical means necessary to commit suicide Newton 3 Enduring through generations and societies assisted suicide continues to be a questionable topic of debate to many around the globe The topic is still a very taboo topic that society has not learned to yet except Society needs to learn to respect the decisions of others and if one decides to end their life they should be able to do so physician assisted suicide is very beneficial to those with terminating illnesses This controversy has become an increasing issue in recent decades that has drawn an ethical and legal debate Many believe assisting to end someones death is immoral and unethical others believe its an act of compassion Supporters claim that people have the right to have a moral right to what they do with their lives People have the right to do what they want as long as it does not interfere or harm anyone elses life Helping somebody who wants to die in a peaceful painless way should not be considered as a crime They reflect on the restrictions of physician assisted suicide PAS doctors will not commit the act if not told so or without conscious of the patient Those against the controversy believe society shall not assist in ending someones life They say that it is unethical and morally wrong to help end someones life because life is a precious thing Most of those who are against the act are strongly religious oriented Most against PAS also consider the chance of the patients getting better There are lots of ongoing factors that contribute to the controversy Physician- Assisted Suicide by David Newton is a book explaining how its the states decision to legalize PAS The content in this book provides descriptive evidence of why the superior courts have left legalization up to the states There are two case
