Looking at successful people in modern day society one can conclude that almost every single one of them possess the following factor wealth This factor that most if not all successful people tend to possess have become a common image of success in society that people are even beginning to define success as being wealthy A clear cut example of this is the Merriam-Webster Dictionary which defines success as the fact of getting or achieving wealth respect or fame Success However Malcolm Gladwell the author of the Outliers The Story of Success argues that success is based off of where and when an individual was raised It makes a difference where and when we grew up The culture we belong to and the legacies passed down by our forebears shape the patterns of our achievement in ways we cannot begin to imagine 19 In my unprofessional opinion both sides are wrong The true meaning of success is working hard to fulfill ones dreams and being content and happy with ones life and how far one has comeEverything an individual does requires some sort of effort some things require more effort others less however the main point is that in order for an individual to achieve something he or she has to put some work into it The same goes for success In order to be successful an individual has to put in plenty of elbow grease and time before they can reach their goal In the Outliers Gladwell talks about the 10000 rule which basically states that in order for someone to become a master of his or her craft he or she have to put in 10000 hours of practice which goes hand in hand with hard work Although Gladwell argues that the individuals who have completed 10000 hours of practice in a certain field have had certain opportunities that others have not ie Bill Gates having the opportunity of constantly being able to
