The nature of the man is a very interesting and touchy subject Somethink that is just simply one belief or the other but I had a hard timedeciding which one I agreed with the most Both sides make very goodpoints and are very convincing at this point in time I agree withphilosopher Rousseau Rousseaus theory on the nature of man has a lotmore proof and evidence on his side than St Augustine St Augustineuses religion as his proof and evidence but not everybody is religiousand there is no proof that God or Gods exist I am not religious so itmakes it easier for me to believe Rousseau because to me his side of theNature of man is based off of more facts and has more proof than StAugustine Rousseau a French philosopher during the Enlightenment questionedfaith truth justice and equality One of the things he wrote aboutwas the nature of man and how man became evil He theorized thatindividuals become evil and sin during their lifetimes chiefly throughthe influence of social institutions this makes a very good pointbecause we all know that personality and attitudes can be learned so heis saying that evil can be learned from society society is influencingpeople to become evil through private things commerce science andagriculture Rousseau is a very good and powerful philosopher he makesyou believe him because he uses common sence and more facts than justreligious viewsImmanuel Kant is also a philosopher and is the central figure in modernphilosophy he said But whatever may be the origin of the moral evilin man the most unsuitable of all views that can be taken of its spreadand continuance through all the members of our race and in allgenerations is to represent it as coming to us by inheritance from ourfirst parents for we can say of moral evil what the poet says ofgood he backs up Rousseau by
