Shows episodes programs movies music iPods tablets and phones what do these all have in common They are all forms and tools of entertainment People are constantly being influenced by the uncensored money-making entertainment industry which is ruining a balanced way of life The increasing obsession of staying updated with the latest gadgets and watching daily entertainment for guilty pleasure is starting to have a negative influence on the future generation in particular According to Kaiser Family Foundation KFF most kids enter into the world of television before they enter school An average Canadian teen spends 4-5 hours a day in front of the computer aside from homework This calculates to 35 hours a week which is more than one days worth of media every week In 2005 Robert J Hancox found that excessive television watching is associated with poor academic performance and educational progress His results indicate that too much television in childhood is a strong predictor that a child will not attain a university degree as an adult This typical lifestyle comes with many side effects such as increasing a persons chance of becoming obese or falling into anxiety and depression Studies have shown that children who watch TV for an average of more than 2 hours a day are 61 more likely to develop emotional social and concentration problems tested using a standard test of childrens psychological well-being The American Academy of Pediatrics AAP recommends that kids under 2 years old should not watch any TV and kids older than two should limit themselves to watch 1 to 2 hours a day of quality programming This way children will remain untouched from the entertainment business for a longer period of time which will result in a positive effect later on Some people may argue that the entertainment business can be used as an effective tool to educate enhance and create a stress free happy and efficient society Yes the accessibility of entertainment
