The wind blew swiftly on this summer day The cool breeze whipped my hair I sat under an oak tree to watch the rabbits jump in the field but there were no rabbits There were no cows In fact there wasnt anyone here at all I was alone At first this brought me peace but as it grew on me I became very distraught I was confused frightened and helpless Questions ran through my mind Where is everybody Why are they gone Am I last the person on earth Yes actually I was I was literally the last human being or any living thing for that matter except for that oak tree We spent a great deal of time together me and that oak tree I went to that oak tree every day for two years This oak tree reminded me of all my friends and family The first couple of months I was concerned but now the quiet and solitude has grown on me I have been accustomed to living alone I have been accustomed to eating along sitting alone walking alone and even dancing alone Some days I liked coming home to an empty house On other days I would come home and break down into tears But I would always wonder what happened to everyone By the oak tree there was a long stone wall It was short in stature but tall enough that I couldnt completely see over it I ran my hand on the wall feeling the rugged terrain of the rock I started to walk in the opposite direction of my house and the oak tree hand still on wall It was getting dark so I kept my hand on the wall I must have walked about three or four miles before I saw lights again But these were not normal lights they were not street lights or moonlights no they were searchlights I started to pick up my
