The American colonies were becoming successful and flourishing as a nation The colonies became independent and were making it on their own without Britain Britain no longer would have a say in their laws and government In the 1770s British started to initiate more and more acts causing rebellions and uprising within the colonies The American Revolution was the colonies breakthrough the revolution made them successful in declaring their independence from the mother country and the terror of British rule was over The colonists were docile and were trying to refrain from war they came together a one last hope to write a petition to reconcile with Britain the Olive Branch Petition Although the colonists made an effort to resolve problems with Britain King George III rejected the petition the colonies previous efforts to become independent and the colonists reactions were unfavorable to King Georges proclamation this was the last straw for Britain The Olive Branch Petition was the point the American Revolution became unstoppable Before the colonies had become successful there was miscommunication and unjustified means throughout the thirteen colonies The colonies before the British had let them become independent were rebelling and trying to make it on their own The British had imposed taxes and different acts on the colonists causing them to unite as one and try to resolve problems with Britain before declaring war The Olive Branch Petition was a result of them trying to resolve their problems and was signed by representatives from each colony Renowned names such as Benjamin Franklin John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were apart of this petition In the petition they wrote humbly and modestly in order to keep peace with Britain They approached the king with your Majestys faithful subjects of the coloniesentreat your Majestys gracious attention to this our humble petition that protested against the harsh laws and restrictions the king had made They sent this petition over to England and it took about
