Obama Care aslo officially known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been a major controversial topic over the last few years The Affordable Care Act was signed into law as a reform for health care by the United States of Americas current President Obama on March 23 2010 It was upheld in the supreme court on June 28 2012 Obama Care provides Americans with better health security through a health insurence reform This reform expands coverage holds insurence companies accountable lowers health care cost guarantees more choices and enhances the quality of care for all the American people This also increases the quality availability and affordability of public health insurence to millions of uninsured Americans through consumer protections regulations subsidies taxes and insurence exchange as well as the ability to curb the growth in healthcare spending A major beneifit is that it allows young adults to stay on their parents insurence plan until they are 26 as well as decling insurence companies from dropping you when you are sick and stops companies from making unnecessary higher rates Obama Care health insurence companies price your insurence based on location family size age and smoking status Health status and gender do not factor into it Here are some major points that stand out to me in Obama care Eligibility becomes open to more people because Obama Care fills in the gap coverage for the poorest Americans by creating a minimum Medicaid income Starting in 2012 financing coverage for the newly eligiblee adults will be completly funded by the federal government for up to three years By 2020 financing will be down by 90 percent making health insurence extreamly affordable for the average American Coordination with Affordable Insurence Exchange allows individuals as well as families to ability to apply for coverage under one application which will determine their eligability for all insurence affordability programs through one process Community Based
