Recent studies have shown that the United States has been recognized as the most obese country in the world Being obese at an early age has caused people to more likely have health issues such as diabetes and high cholesterol The food provided to students in public schools all over the United States is a big factor that contributes to the obesity rates among young people At a young age people dont pay much attention to what they eat also they dont know whether the food provided to them at school is healthy or unhealthy Not eating healthy or eating what is known as junk food most of the time causes students to lack the energy to get through the day at school and not pay attention Their academic performance is affected by the food they eat as well as their social life at school if they are obese and they get bullied because of their appearance As people get older people develop certain eating habits such as eating healthy foods and watching the nutritional facts on what they eat There are also people that might be lactose intolerant vegetarian or allergic to certain foods Public school cafeterias dont always offer food that aids students with special needs to stay healthy Students in public schools dont have many options on their meals Most of the meals they eat are unhealthy due to them being processed foods or simply not nutritional at all If public education institutions were to balance the types of food providing students with a variety of healthy vegetarian lactose-intolerant and then some fast food for the ones that decide they want to eat that type of food the choice the students made regarding their diet would be their responsibility Feeding thousands of students in one day is hard and the only way that seems possible for public schools to do so is by preparing the quickest and easiest foods
