I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equalMartin LKing King wrote this in the middle of a big crisis of racism in the United States Racism is still active nowadays although I do not believe there is a crisis in the country like in the 1960s now it is just a prevalent issue However society does attend to move away from this racial stereotypes by the creation of new organizations that are helping in the reduction of this racial profiling issue In August 61965 President Johnson signed into law the Voting Rights ActThis act allowed African-Americans to vote in federal elections in all states This right had earlier being sign on paper but never obeyed because southern states did not allow many blacks to voteThey did this through unfair tests which you needed to pass to vote which were made so that the African-Americans would fail them In Alabama state troopers violently broke up a nighttime voting-rights march that resulted in the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson After this event the African-American community began the Selma to Montgomery marches to present Governor George Wallace with their complains On the first marchthey were stopped by the police outside of Selma The police shot tear gas into the crowd This was later known as Bloody Sunday was captured by television cameras and was covered live by a new communications satelliteTelstarAfter this event in Selma President Johnson called upon Congress to make public expansive voting rights legislationRacial profiling is still prevalent today For example the night of February 122012 The fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman occurredOf Course there are several versions and positions of the story but racial profiling was involved on this The police should of control the situation like a normal police would had done it
