many students prefer to take a year off before going to college In addition several countries such as united kingdom and united states of America gives students a year off before attending the college thus many students and colleges think that may help students to get ready to start in college However there are several effects of taking a year off before entering to college such as forgetting information from high school not being ready to start and attend the classes and wasting time first of all most of students who take a year off are more susceptible to lose the academic momentum and may lose study skills too In addition it may cause the student to forget a lot of information that he learned in high school and some basic knowledge Human brain loses a lot of the unused information so when the students start school after a gap year they will have some difficulties with understanding the lessons especially in mathematics and science because these subjects need high concentration and background information so it is better to always reviewing the previous information to avoid that effectsecond of all taking a year off weaken students attention they might not feel ready to start attending classes and that might affect several things negatively such as study hours concentration in the class and that will effect on their exams grads badly for example students who just finished their high school education they are going to take a year off But in this year they will start studding simple and easy studies So after finishing this year they will get into colleges and take more specifics and harder education material As a result they will find it harder and more strenuous to catch upfinally most of the college majors take about four to five years so taking a year off will expand the period to six or seven years which is so long time and
