In Why Video Games Matter its interesting to see that the Tom Bissell was writing based on his ideals and excitement for a game as good as the Fallout series as well as the Elder Scrolls These two video game collections are among the best of the century for not only graphics but also their ability to take you to a new place and make you feel as though youre completely warped into a new realm where you are basically the ruler Tom Bissell stated in one section Oblivion is less a game than a world that best rewards full citizenship I can agree with this statement since it shows not only the ability to get involved but the ideals that in the game youre not just a player and its very easy to get lost within the confines of a new world 352 Playing for over 200 hours as the author said he did is not that difficult in games such as these because there are so many things you can do to waste time push through or even just spend looking for quests and items that are required to move on in the game However I find it hard to believe that one person can spend that much time playing one game In a single session you can lose your train of thought unless forcing yourself to make time Setting an alarm for playing only one hour a day wont even completely help in this case because the temptation of just 5 more minutes sets into action a chain of events as if youre trying to get out of bed early Bissells basic claim that games are good for the mind is correct but three criticisms Bissell makes about Oblivion and Fallout can be refuted furthermore when he claims that people can limit game playing time like they do with books he underestimates how
