Life in Thailand is very different from ours Instead of being focused on deadlines and rushing off to work all the time Thais take life at a much slower pace They let things get done in their own time No staying up all night or missing their childs soccer game to meet a deadline Thai people are often late for meetings but no one minds waiting When dealing with people from Thailand you must be patient and understand that you may have to wait Thai people have a sense of playfulness about them and deadlines and schedules just dont fit into their lifestyles They live in the moment and believe everything worth doing including their work should have a sense of Sanuk or fun about it Thai norms and traditions are very relaxed They use first names when addressing people and believe that life should be fun and happy They are very big on building and maintaining relationships One aspect they are not relaxed about is business attire though Men are expected to wear button up shirts and a tie and women are expected to wear a skirt and jacket Even with the hot weather most men are expected to wear long sleeve button up shirts along with an undershirt and a tie While womens slacks are acceptable most prefer when women wear skirts Thai people have a strong sense of saving face They dont like confrontation and often will avoid it at all cost They dont get worked up over things Yelling and getting frustrated in Thailand will often just result in you being ignored It embarrasses you and those around you Often Thai people will smile when things are going wrong This is their way of saving face and is the source of the very well know Thai smile An example of this concept of saving face is Thailands saying Men Pen Rai The literal meaning of this is its nothing Its the
