Nursing Degree Guide informs us that neither doctors nor nurses are better than one another but that they are both different and necessary to the medical field It describes nurses as the arms and legs while the doctors are the eyes and the brainNursing Nurses observation and communication skills and doctors diagnosis and treatment are the two factors that control the patients outcomeKrostad Without them the hospital would not run smoothly and there would be no job satisfaction Nurses have extensive knowledge of their work and bring an abundance of information for the doctors to use for their decisions on diagnosis and prognosis Not only do nurses have a purpose for the tasks at hand with the patient professionally but they also take the time to become acquainted with the patient as a person that they can trust despite what the nurses gender salary or rank is A common misconception about nurses is that they only become nurses because medical school was not an option for a variety of reasons not being smart enough or not having enough motivation Nurses not being smart or lazy may be a true statement about very few nurses today however most of the time this is not the case High test scores and grade point average are required for any nursing program so nursing students have a lot of studying to do in order to even be accepted in such a program Once they get into the program Not only do nurses have to go to school for at least two years but more than likely they had bills to pay while in school Working full time and being in school is no easy task for they have to spend at least 40 hours a week at work around 12 to 16 hours a week at school and in the time that they are at home they probably have schoolwork and studying they have to do With all this
