In Odyssey Odysseus and Telemachus are separated for twenty years before they finally met each other They missed each other so much and hoped to reunite again When Odysseus went back home Father and son planned together and killed all suitors But in Hebrew Bible Jacob deceived his father Issac in order to receive Issacs blessings Also Davids son Absalom betrayed him and wanted to kill him so that Absalom could be the King himself There is a big difference of father and sons relationship in Hebrew Bible and Odyssey The relationship between father and son is stable in Odysseus while the relationship between father and son is fragile in Hebrew Bible The reason of the difference is that father and son represent an ensemble of family fame identity in Odyssey However father and son are regarded as single individuals whose fame can be separated from family in Hebrew Bible Stable relationship is filled with respect and miss A stable relationship does not mean full obedience but means confidence and necessary doubts Also stable relationship cannot be easily broken by hardships When Telemachus talks about his father Odysseus he is talking in a way full of respect of his father He uses adjectives such as noble godlike and King to describe his father Odysseus leaves his son Telemachus when Telemachus was just born Telemachus hasnt seen his father for almost twenty years but he always misses his father Odysseus and waits for Odysseus return First by far to see her was Prince Telemachus sitting among the suitors heart obsessed with grief He could almost see his magnificent father herein the minds eyeonly if he might drop from the clouds and drive these suitors all in a rout throughout the halls and regain his pride of place and rule his own domains Even though twenty years has passed Telemachus does not stop missing his father and expecting his return However their
