In America we have many constitutional rights freedom of speech the freedom to bear arms and the freedom of religion One major freedom we are still lacking is ones right to freely die If one is in the right mind set and chooses to option to die under the safe and secure watch of a physician why should the law hinder them If physician assisted suicide is such a controversial topic in todays day and age why have we not come to a middle ground I support the euthanasia of willing humans with the help of a mind of medicine Euthanasia is something most people would only think refers to animals who need to be put down after a long life or fighting a troubling disease that leaves them in pain and useless In all reality the same thing can be done for humans This is a huge controversy in American because life is valued more than death Religious people see suicide as something unholy and want to go to all lengths to protect the beauty of the human life Whether religious or not people see physician assisted suicide as ethically and morally wrong The way our society views death is very different from other cultures We value life to such a high extreme we rarely stop to think that what if life is not worth living anymore The pain and suffer that can be endured by an individual suffering from a terminal illness or a psychotic illness can be excruciating Someone without their lifelong prognosis will never understand exactly how they feel Why do they get to choose if this person lives or dies Imagine constant constricting pressure on your head not even being able to feed yourself anymore or slowly becoming reduced to the smallest version of yourself Living day to day and more importantly living the rest of your life with that constant burden is something that not all people have
