Afghanistan has made progress regarding economic growth and education but it is still in the process of recovering from past conflicts and dealing with present ones as well Women in Afghanistan do not understand the rights they should posses Human rights are defined as an individuals fundamental right that the government cannot interfere with such as the right to speak associate and work Women have been denied their fundamental rights because of the Taliban Women in Afghanistan have gained a fair amount of rights after the Taliban rule and have found their voice of empowerment but even though womens rights have increased over the years their rights are still at risk of being lostBefore the Taliban women had decent amount of rights but the Taliban imposed limits on womens participation in society Before the Taliban women made up a high percentage of the university population teachers civil servants and doctors Hanford The Taliban represented a major reversal in the struggle for womens rights The orginization consisted of Islamic extremists who believed women were second-class citizens and therefore did not deserve any rights They believed the sole purpose of women was to bear children and please their husbands The Taliban took the capital city of Kabul in September 1996 and issued an edict that stripped women of their rights Hanford In Afghanistan women have been subjugated for centuries and it only got worse with the rise of the Taliban Gaining their rights back was not going to be easy or fast Women could not leave their homes without a male relative because it was thought that they would attract men whom they would have affairs with Therefore women rarely spoke to men in public and almost never interacted with foreigners If they did leave their homes they were forced to always be covered from head to toe by a burka Womens health suffered the most because they were denied lifesaving medical care Helping Women is
