Already the ancient Greeks appreciated the importance of humour and therefore produced many comedies that make us laugh even today If it is the stand up comedy a funny episode of a beloved TV show or even a childish game of tickling that induces an outbreak of laughter humour plays a crucial role in my life Hence I firmly believe that laughter can help us overcome many situations or problems that life throws at meAt times of misery most people crave things like chocolate cake a day at a spa centre or even some sort of unhealthy intoxicants whereas for me there is no better way than to spend these moments cuddled up in a bed watching stand up comedy Have you ever felt depressed or just not as happy as usual and your favourite TV show cheered you up That is the invaluable effect that laughter has on people For me comedy is an indulgence a way of letting go my problems and recalibrating myselfNot only our personal problems but also a love relationship can extremely benefit by comicality While researching for this topic I came across a quote from a relationship psychologist who said that couples that laugh have greater chance of overcoming problems and staying together In this regard I am very lucky that I found a partner who is very funny and is able to make me laugh every single day Despite the fact that we are both rapidly approaching our thirties I am proud that we still have the ability to burst into laughter while tickling and goofing around like children If humour is truly as beneficial to a relationship I am looking forward to many years spent together in laughterHowever where there is a positive side of things there is usually a negative and similarly this applies to humour as well I am referring to sarcasm one of my least favourite types of humour Sarcasm is harmful humour
