Over the years Cancer has been the main focus of many doctors scientists and researchers These people are all fighting towards the same goal How can we treat cancer properly and eventually discover a cure Today cancer patients are treated by surgery chemotherapy and radiation but unfortunately most of the time these treatments do not cure cancer They only hinder the cancer until it relocates regrows and eventually kills off the patient One of the reasons cancer is such a deadly disease is because many patients are completely unaware that they are harbouring a malignant tumour If you are diagnosed with cancer in the early stages you have a much higher chance of survival What if we had some way of locating the cancer easier and faster and also cure that cancer once found With the discovery of nanotechnology in the early 1980s all these things will be made possible in the future Firstly what is nanotechnology In Greek Nano means dwarf implying how small of a scale we are dealing with There are 25400000 nanometers in an inch and a sheet of newspaper is about 100000 nanometers thick Nano science or nanotechnology involves the ability to see and control individual atoms in other words manipulating atoms Nanotechnology is not only used in the medical world but it also used in fabrics such as in clothing to repel stains and water as well as for nanotubes involving Nano-sized particles of carbon Nano-particles of carbon and other elements are so versatile in their uses because of their strength and weight Nanotechnology in cancer treatment as of now is in the development and testing stages There are hundreds of methods in which nanotechnology is used in treating cancer with the intent to cure the disease These methods involve two different procedures that lead to the same goal the first is detection and the second is attack Until recently researches have been using the shotgun method which
