This sandbox is not your typical sandbox were you have the bright neon green shovel and bucket and make sand castles and make pretend cakes and other pretend things This sandbox is huge and by huge I mean 169234 square miles huge This sandbox goes by many names but the one Im talking about is called Camp Liberty in Baghdad Iraq Ive only been to the sandbox once but the sights smells and Camp Liberty I remember like it was yesterday 1 November 2008 at oh about 830am the buses full of sleepy soldiers who had just gotten off the airplane about 3 hours ago were still sleeping but for some who still had adrenaline going they were wide awake and looking at everything that the buses passed When the buseshad finally arrived at Pad 14 A section on Camp Libertythe soldiers would be living for the next 12 months Little did the soldiers know that the winter and summer time here was going to be totally different than home The winter time was nothing but rain rain all the time that it practically flooded places of Camp Liberty and the summer time the temperatures reach well into the triple digits and with the humidity that didnt help matters especially when the temperatures hit triple digits by 900amBy the time I got to go out on my first mission I was going to another FOB- Forward Operating base-I was so stoked that once again my adrenaline was going and this time it was through the roof and into space I got to see some of what Baghdad Iraq looked like and man was I surprised The local people were just dumping their sewage right into the street so with the heat from the mid-day sun that made the smell worse than changing a babys poopy diaper I also got to see what a Mosque looked like and its design is nothing like what our churches
