He wakes up each morning staring into the eyes of the same glowing blue digital alarm clock that screams without warning into the darkness He struggles to find that spark a reason that ignites him from the cozy layers of linen and onto his day He is young and he is blue He is struggling with high school with love with his parents struggling with struggling He is feeling run down by the politics of high school trying to always have the right answer trying not to make too big of mistakes so that hopefully he can get a scholarship to college Forgetting all the while to take care of himself that somehow becomes less transparent in high schoolSchools across the nation are racing to find the next progressive tool for the classroom Each year the classroom changes new projectors new chairs and new tables are installed bringing the classroom of today that much closer to the classroom of the future We study the newest edition hoping to be as porous in our minds as when we were younger Accumulatively we are assigned an average that defines our level of understanding to our peers our parents and potential colleges We aim towards success and if we fail we feel the pressure to succeed in some capacity If we the students along with the school and our parents redefined the meaning of progress in the classroom by not giving each student a brand new laptop but instead giving each student the support to overcome struggle then there would be an increase in the students graduating each year In high school everyone has something to say an opinion or a thoughtless comment We are struggling to find individuality among our peers Teenagers tend to share a set of common values and struggles School spirit unites us all together speaking the same language and cheering on the same team There are so many illusions of community and support
