I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou Brave I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou is based on an African-American female who experiences many hard times in her childhood Most people cant even imagine what Maya has gone through It would be very difficult for any child to overcome all the tough things Maya has experienced Maya Angelou has gone through many horrible things in her life Im not surprised she hasnt seen a psychiatrist or been to therapy Although she has been through all these things she has remained a wonderful caring person Strong resilient caring ambitious and intelligent are just some of the great qualities In her autobiography Mayas single greatest personal quality is that she is very brave Mayas first tough experience was when she had been raped This experience only made Maya braver as a person After the rape Maya went to court and helped convict Mr Freeman of rape Maya was brave enough to go to court and testify against Mr Freeman It would be very difficult for me to go on stand and do what Maya did after what Mr Freeman threatened to do His words were If you ever tell anybody what we did Ill have to kill Bailey74 Even though Maya had been threatened she knows what she has to do It was very difficult for her to even think about this incident but she still testifies This made Maya a much braver person even though it was an experience no women would ever want to live through Maya has experienced rape but that is not the only tough and difficult experience Maya puts on a brave face in Mexico Mayas father passes out while he is drunk Since her father is drunk he couldnt drive so Maya told him to rest a little before he starts driving again Mayas father passes out and cant wake up Because Maya doesnt want
