Death comes and goes throughout the lives of any race gender andspecies It is all around us every micro second of the day Death is asensitive subject that is spoken of lightly though it could be runningthrough the minds of many continuously with every step they take We areborn into the world alone and die alone but during our time here wedevelop bonds and love with one another which makes death a littleharder to encounter In the 21st century cultures bond together whenconcerns of death are taken into affect helping many realize as in thestory of Gilgamesh that our lives should be cherished Gilgamesh a man constructed by the gods to be two-thirds god andone-third man lead the city of Urak as their king Gilgamesh wasattractive with aw features however he possessed a cruel sense ofleadership The gods decided it was time to place Gilgamesh back in hisplace So they created a wild man named Enkidu who ran with the wilduncivilized and untamed until a prostitute was sent to domesticateEnkidu fancying him with her prostitute ways bringing him into thecivilized world Once Enkidu becomes apart of the human world he hearsof Gilgamesh actions deciding to stop him A conflict sets off amongGilgamesh and Enkidu as they become face to face though after a longbattle they realize they are complimentary opposites becoming greatfriends The two half men half gods decide to show their heroic sides byventuring off to kill a best named Humbaba guardian of a cedar forestThey kill the beast of the forest and the bull leaving the gods in ragedeciding one of the two friends must be punished with death Enkidu isselected by the gods to have his life taken Enkidus death leavesGilgamesh in grief pondering about his own death seeking immortalityWhen Gilgamesh is not granted immortality he realizes that he shouldenjoy what he is given at the time of his mortality rather than wastinghis time searching for immortality The story of Gilgamesh brings
