In today societys jealousy doesnt just play with a persons feelings but also causes destruction to an individuals everyday life In the small Massachusetts village of Salem a community of people have several problems regarding with jealousy In The Crucible a collection of girls pretend to be under Satans control In the following story a jealous persons actions are criticized for being lead to selfishness and conflict This will be demonstrated through fight for John Proctors heart Mr Putnams wealth and Goody Putnams desire for compassion The Crucible emphasizes through a development in selfishness and greed through the acts of Jealousy by Abigail Williams Mr Putnam and Goody Putnam The proceedings these characters develop have lead to selfishness and greedThe Crucible takes place during the time of McCarthyism in 1692 The town experiences witch trails due to the frightening and surprising events that occurred from the people living here The bizarre actions of a select group of individuals and mysterious sickness points out concerns of witchcraft in their own town In their town long-standing resentments and jealousies expanded out into the open filling the atmosphere with hysteria The Massachusetts town is heavily influenced by religion but many of the girls let evil influence them instead of their natural belief They deviated from the puritan religion and allowed the devil to control them Within a few weeks many people are put in jail due to the accusation others put on them They accused some innocents to save themselves from false accusations of witchcraft By the time people in Salem get a chance to tell their side of the story are already convicted and hanged for witchcraft The significance of this play displays the nature of good and evil power and its corruption and honor and integrityThe addiction Abigail Williams has for John Proctors heart has led her to be very jealousy towards Elizabeth Proctor She is jealous of her attention and the love she gets from
