There are several elements of Mark Twains Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which can be criticized or argued against Several of the themes in the novel can be explored in different ways and from different points of views In TS Eliots introduction to Adventures of Huckleberry Finn he speaks of several themes regarding Huck Finn throughout his adventures Eliot describes the relationship between the central elements such as the Boy and the River The idea of the boy is a theme that can be investigated in several different ways as Hucks adventures lead to his personal growth and increasing maturity As Eliot says in his introduction The fact that Huck has no father only emphasizes his loneliness 349 While Huck doesnt have his real father by his side the most important aspect of the novel is that Huck is able to find the relationships that he needsAlthough Huck is faced with the absence of his father and loneliness at the beginning of the novel he nevertheless is able to find companions that will guide him and support him throughout his adventures but however remains detached from familiar love Huck is eventually able to find his fatherly figure and even though Jim isnt related to Huck by blood he possesses the characteristics similar to those of a father For a solid section of the novel Huck himself didnt know how to cope with the loneliness however this is a quality that he gains and improves on throughout the novel Finding the companions and relationships he needs is an important step towards the boundary separating loneliness and companionship T S Eliot is correct in his arguments at the beginning of the novel as Huck is unable tomanage his loneliness but these feelings disintegrate as he becomes closer and closer with Jim The world that Huck was born into has influenced him to suffer from initial loneliness and a feeling of isolation Huck possesses a unique outlook on life
