In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet find themselves forbidden lovers due to a long lasting family feud After secretly marrying Romeo is banished from Verona for the revenge killing of Juliets cousin Tybalt Juliet is then forced into a proposal to Paris and has Friar help her in creating a plan to escape the marriage When the plan fails Romeo poisons himself because he thinks Juliet is dead This causes Juliet to commit suicide when she awakens to see Romeo dead Romeo is responsible for his own death and the death of Juliet He is immature and impulsive causing many issues throughout the playRomeo being a young immature teenager over exaggerates his feelings For example Romeo believes his love for Rosaline is real but in reality Romeo is in lust While attending a Capulet party Romeo sees Juliet for the first time and is in awe Romeo states Did my heart love til now For swear it sight For I neer saw true beauty til this night Iv 51-52 Romeo questions his love for Rosaline just by seeing Juliet He once again exaggerates his lust for Juliet believing that it is love Romeo is too immature to understand his feelings he believes his love is real and impulsively acts on it This results in the events leading up to the death of both Romeo and Juliet For the same reason Romeo quickly kills Tybalt in revenge of Mercutio death and his immaturity makes him nave to the consequences After Tybalt slays Mercutio Romeo believes that he should be avenged and kills Tybalt Again in triumph and Mercutio slain Away to heaven respective lenity And fire-eyd fury be my conduct now IIIi119-120 Romeos words demonstrate his fury towards Tybalt for slaying Mercutio Rather than waiting for authorities to report Tybalts crime
