According to old sayings Love conquers all Romeo and Juliet puts that idea to the test Romeo and Juliet is a play that has been adapted into many forms such as novel movies and short stories The play was a tragedy written by William Shakespeare The play is about two star-crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet They are both from rivaling families in the city of Verona Italy They both want to desperately be with each other even if it means abandoning their families to do so In the play Love is portrayed by Shakespeare as a strong and influential force that acts on a person A great example of this in the play is when Juliet decides to kill herself when she cannot be with Romeo after he commits suicideJuliet vowed that if she couldnt be with Romeo that her wedding bed will be her death bed and that is what it came to in the end Romeo thought Juliet had died and did not know of the ruse that she and the Friar had planned Juliets acknowledgment of Romeos death caused her to immediately try to commit suicide alongside her lost love O churl drunk all and no friendly drop To help me after I will kiss thy lips Haply some poison yet doth hang on them To make me die with restorative She kisses him Thy lips are warm V iii 168-172 Juliet decides instead of living on with her life after Romeos death that she will die there She attempts to take poison from Romeos lips but is unsuccessful in doing so She also associates dying here to being restored This association shows that even dying for Romeo is considered superior to living the rest of her life Love has influenced her to commit such a large gesture such as committing suicide This proves that love is a very strong force that causes Juliet to do
