What is racism According to the Merriam Webster dictionary the word racism means a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement usually involving the idea that ones own race is superior and has the right to rule others For example in the short story Menagerie A Childs Fable once being out of their cages and being with species different from them the animals at the pet shop start to judge each other because of how they eat or the way they were born The main character Berkley was trying to be the Martin Luther KingJr of the story and make peace throughout the pet shop But that did not go as he planned it would Racism is something that can be taken the wrong way and can be taken very heavily if dealt the wrong way Certain situations that may happen to make people react to someone with a certain skin color and they tend to say oh if that person with that color skin is that way then they probably all act that way but just because that one person is that way it does not mean they all are Racism has existed throughout human history It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another -- or the belief that another person is less than human -- because of skin color language customs and place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person It has influenced wars slavery the formation of nations and legal codes This implies that because a person is a certain shade of skin color that they should get treated differently Most people start to believe that since other people are being racist that it justifies that it may be okay for them to do the same You want these people to feel like they do not belong that they deserve
