The Oxford English dictionary defines war as a hostile contention by means of armed forces carried on between nations states or rulers or between parties in the same nation or state the employment of armed forces against a foreign power or against an opposing party in the state I define war as a state of unrest between two parties Margaret Mead in an essay on warfare wrote that war is instinctive innate characteristically human and therefore inevitable unavoidable The art of war dates back to the medieval times Ironically as much as we are horrified or disgusted by war we are often drawn to it fascinated by it pg 24 This can be seen through the various celebrations of war through movies stories festivals and so on which celebrate some of the great wars of our time Even those who argue against warfare cannot confront its appeal Great movies and novels have come about as a result of their abilities to re-capture some of the famous wars of our time and turn them into great stories for us all to enjoy In our world today we see movies video games plays museums and so on which tell stories captivating stories which show how people fight for their countries These movies glorify the brave people who went forth to defend their countries against opposing forces No matter how much people tend to distance themselves from war they are still attracted to it in one way or the other A lot of people go out and condemn wars but still end up buying a whole lot of media pertaining to and glorifying wars Take for instance some of the great movies of time such as Saving Private Ryan 300 and the epic Gone with
