In many Shakespearean plays there are characters that go through changesto their personality and behaviour throughout the play These changesaffect the plot and other surrounding characters In the tragedy ofMacbeth the famous playwright William Shakespeare examines thetransformation of humans through relationships power and guiltThe transformations of humans can be affected by relationships Thecharacter of Macbeth thane of Glamis is a loyal man but when he hearsthe three witches prophesize that he shalt be king hereafterShakespeare 1353 his desire to be king sparks a murderous thoughtto kill King Duncan Within the relationship between Macbeth and thewitches Macbeths desire and ambition increase his wanting to be kingno matter the cost The witches add to Macbeths transformation as wellas his wife Lady Macbeth She accuses him of unmanliness and living asa coward in his own esteem 1746 At this point in the playLady Macbeth has much influence over her husband She desires to bequeen and knows that without her help Macbeth can never be greaterLady Macbeth is one of the key characters to push Macbeth to pursue whathe wants which is to be king They both caught hold of the scent ofpower now they want a taste of it Human transformation can also be shown through power Macbeth realizesthis when he becomes King His title makes him very paranoid and henotices that to be thus is nothing But to be safely thus3152-53 Even though he has what he wants he does not have thesecurity that he needs He has become very paranoid especially over howBanquos descendants will one day overthrow him With Macbeths newpower he does change he becomes obsessed over the witches prophecies toBanquo and worries whether they will come true His paranoia mixed inwith his new power allows him to plan Banquos murder where his controlcan be tested The witches also come into place again They conjure upapparitions to speak with Macbeth The witches give him extra confidenceand the feeling of true power but
