As I get older things change and people come and go but my grandmother was in my life from the beginning She was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago when I was 16 My grandmother made me see the world differently because she showed me I can overcome anything What is the true definition of strength Is it being able to lift heavy things or is it having the mind to overcome anything My grandmother changed my life because she showed me the true definition of strength She always had a smile on her face no matter how horrible the situation was One a hot day in the beginning of the summer I learned how strong she really was Emotions can affect you in everything you do in life I remember going to the hospital with her on hot day in the beginning of the summer This was a couple of months after she was diagnosed with cancer We were going to get her blood work done and start on the chemotherapy Emotions were racing through my mind about what will happen to her Was she ever going to be the same or just a shell of her old self That is all I thought about for months because I wanted her to beat cancer and become stronger than before Chemotherapy had a huge physical toll on my grandmother and me On that day I remember her getting her blood taken at least five times and she hated needles After getting her blood work she would start the chemo and it looked painful The machine looked like something I have never seen She was just sitting there for hours on end with medicine pumping though her veins that are making her feel weak Going through that with
