The Truth About lying There is an epidemic plaguing our society It may be more pervasive than all the cancers combined more destructive that the flesh-eating virus that shocked us a few years ago and equally as horrifying to witness It is difficult to detect and more common than the common cold It grows and spreads faster than a patch of poison ivy It is lying Personal integrity must be a core societal value for civilization to persist Everyone at one point in there life has lied Many lie to the most important people in their lives because they do not want to have conflict between them but the lie usually ends up creating a bigger mess than if the truth would have been told Some lie to people they hardly know because they want to be accepted or make a good impression There are two categories of liars the professional and the amateur liars Some professions are directly built around lies and would not exist without them because the truth would destroy the business Within these two categories there are three types of liars the perpetual liar the frequent liar and the occasional liar Perpetual liars are incapable of telling the truth They live an entire life in a cloud of lies Every experience they tell never happened as described and it seems they pretend to be someone they are not When their mouth opens false stories spill out all for the momentary attention they receive from the listener The importance of the lie is non-consequential if neither person will see the other again The perpetual liar is selfish and does not care about meaningful relationships The frequent liar is someone more selective as to when they tell their lies Since they occasional tell the truth people can be deceived into believing a particular story is factual Such people are convenience liars they lie whenever it suits their desires or advances their
