There are few books in which the meaning is almost completely up to the interpretation of the readers Nine Stories by JD Salinger is one of the few Readers are able to decipher the symbolism and significance behind each of the short stories without them being given The short stories require careful studying and consideration in order to find the message Salinger was trying to convey Salinger writes about child-like and adult-like characters who have either good or bad communication It is up to the readers to interpret which characters are child-like and which are adult-like In order to complete this sometimes difficult task readers must closely examine the characters experiences personalities and how they act around other characters In many of the stories readers are able to analyze the personality of the main character and see how it has developed over time In Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut by JD Salinger Eloise lives in umbrage as a result of her innocence being taken away from her Eloises relationship with other characters perfectly demonstrates the sorrow she deals with daily The words and actions Eloise expresses toward other characters make it clear that Eloise lives a life of sorrow and regret Eloise is especially harsh toward her own daughter Ramona Salinger the author of Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut includes in the story Eloises demands of Ramona writing Eloise raised her voice to a shriek You get in the center of that bed Go on 37 This quote illustrates the terrible relationship that Eloise has with Ramona In this scene Eloise is forcing Ramona to move to the center of the bed in order to terminate Ramonas belief that her imaginary friend actually existed Most parents would be supportive of their childs belief in an imaginary friend Eloise on the other hand is completely unsupportive The cause of
