From the opening credits the tone of the film is comprised of a happy comedy drama appearing to be cheesy and annoying I formulated a quick opinion telling myself that this would be just another flop Regardless I followed Angelique her strange world From the beginning I was dazed by the perseverance of Angelique to win over Loic She managed to convince me that Loic should leave his wife for her but why I believe that is because of Angeliques story I was manipulated to cheer for her because I did not yet know the complete story From her side I saw someone who in love and desperate to make things work She seemed very normal I was led to believe that they had an actual relationship in the past and that Angelique was simply trying to rekindle their love for each other It appeared that Loic and his wife did not get along Scenes of them together always involved them fighting even leaving Loic was portrayed as the bad guy and Angelique the sweet innocent loving mistress It is frightening to think that I ever rooted for her Halfway through the film the story took a complete u-turn Angeliques name became ironic in fact she was quite demonic much of the time The boring and clich first half of the movie gave way to something much darker The second-half of the story is told from the point of view of Loic We find out that he loves his wife and that Angelique is a psychotic stalker instead of the alternative She synthesizes a world in which they are in love This caused immense pain and many problems in Loics life very nearly destroying it The tone of the second half resonates darkness The camera angle is off-center a suggestion of imbalance there are dark shades of blue a suggestion of melancholy I started rooting for Loic and would have been content with not seeing
