The decision to move started to from when my husband was laid off intwo thousand nine There was no work in Northern Michigan Our familystruggled to get by on my income alone we were failing The tension inour home was thick It seemed as though our family was falling apart In 2010 we knew without a doubt something had to change We decidedthat we had to move or our family would suffer greatly but it still didnot make the decision easier My husband and I spent months looking atdifferent states We finally narrowed our search to three states NorthCarolina West Virginia and Texas We based our decision on the jobmarket schools for our children and the cost of living Texas had thebest job opportunitys some of the best schools and the cost of livingwas affordable So our decision was made we were moving to Texas One of the hardest parts of moving was telling our children and parents Our family knew we were struggling and gave us their blessing to moveMy husband and I felt good about moving at this point He was sendingin applications for jobs in Texas while I transferred my CNA licenseto Texas We found a great apartment that held our family and pets sowe put down a deposit and had our move in date We also found a niceschool for our kids so we enrolled them and transferred their schoolrecords We were all set and ready to go we would be leaving Michiganin one moth Everything about moving was going so smooth It was kindof like a fairy tale But in one instant everything changed My fatherwas diagnosed with stage three lung cancer I knew we would not bemoving but I knew we could not stay My sister Heidi is our saving grace she said Holly You Rob andthe kids can
