The television show The Sopranos has been a hit series from 1999-2007 staring head mobster Tony Soprano While a lot of the show details the life of a seemingly normal New Jersey family the show also deals with the effects Tonys career choice has on his wife kids and own morality Tonys ethical dilemma and the suppressed guilt he feels for his life choices and the crimes that he commits Boyd 2012 The show also touches on some other ethical dilemmas of how the mafia lifestyle leads to gambling alcohol and drug abuse and even adultery All of these conflicts come with the grounds of being in organized crime As most Italian- Americans Tony is a devout Catholic so many of his career choices not only have a restrain on his family life but also his religion After all the crimes that he commits religion and his faith in God would seem to be like the last thing that would be on his mind yet they show many religious attributes throughout the series for instance most mafia men in the show where a golden crucifix around their neck The conflict is if Tony Sopranos job is ethical Majority of people would say that it is not and that he gets away with more crime with soldiers doing his dirty work yet his income is astronomical compared to the average middle-class working man He makes a living killing people selling drugs and running the streets To him he is doing what he needs to do to provide for his family His family is the most important piece of his life because no matter all the wrong that he does they are by his side through thick and thin This can also put them in a bad situation considering not only does he have to protect them as the man of the house but they also have to protect him in cases in which law enforcements become
