The first hazard that was found to associate with operating a tractor was excessive vibration This hazard is present when the operator is operating the tractor Depending on the task being performed the amount of vibration the operator is exposed to vary A study performed showed that excessive vibration caused lower back pain and over long period it causes an operator to not be able to stand for long periods of time These conditions are from exposure to excessive vibration cannot be corrected and can only be tolerated with medication This is why controls need to be put into place to prevent operators from deploying injuries from excessive vibration There are several controls that we have look at to reduce the risk from excessive vibration The first control that was look at is to put an air suspension seat that the operator sits in while operating the tractor The air suspension seat is set up on a system that is operator by air that moves up and down to cushion the movement for the tractor going over rough terrain This keeps the operator from being exposed to excessive vibration to the lower back This control will reduce the amount of vibration an operator is exposed too The control that we recommend would be the air suspension seat because this reduces the biggest hazard to the lower back The air suspension seat have a price tag range of 400-2000 This is an expensive item to change on every tractor but this can prevent workers compensation claim that would exceed the amount of the seats in the long term RHThe next hazard that is associated with operating a tractor is an entanglement hazard This hazard is associated with power take-off PTO shaft that is at the rear of the tractor The operator is not at risk of this hazard every time operating the tractor When the operator is near the PTO shaft the risk high hazard resulting
